Terms of Use
By installing or using ISTQB Pass (the "app") you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
1. What the app is
The app is a study aid for the ISTQB® Certified Tester exams: the Foundation Level (CTFL), the Advanced Level (Agile Tester, Test Analyst, Test Management, Test Automation Engineering, Technical Test Analyst) and the Specialist certifications (AI Testing, Quality in DevOps, Testing with Generative AI, Mobile Application Testing, Model-Based Testing, Test Automation Strategy, Agile Test Leadership at Scale). For each of them it offers a syllabus reader, a glossary, official sample exams, quick tests, flash cards, daily questions and personal statistics, depending on what is available for that certification. For reference it also contains the previous version of the app, for the CTFL 2018 syllabus (version 3.1). The app is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by ISTQB or any of its member boards. ISTQB® is a registered trademark of the International Software Testing Qualifications Board.
2. Study material and sources
The syllabi, the glossary and the sample exams (with their answers and explanations, and the figures and tables of the questions) shown in the app come from documents published by ISTQB at istqb.org. They remain the property of ISTQB and are used here for exam preparation, with the source, version and date of the material of the certification you study shown in the app (Settings → Licenses). The ISTQB glossary is published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence. The study material is available in the languages of the app where a translation exists; otherwise the app shows the English original. Translations of this material in the app are machine-assisted drafts; the English documents are the official versions.
The app's own code, design and text are the work of its developer. You may not copy, resell or redistribute them without permission.
3. No guarantee
We work to keep the material accurate, but it may contain mistakes or be out of date. The app is provided "as is". Practice scores and statistics are estimates and do not predict or guarantee your result in the real exam. Always check the official documents and the rules of your exam provider.
4. Acceptable use
- Use the app for personal, non-commercial study.
- Do not try to disrupt the app or the servers that provide its content, and do not extract content in bulk.
- Do not use the app to cheat in a real exam.
5. Your data
How the app handles data is described in the Privacy Policy. Your study data stays on your phone; uninstalling the app deletes it.
6. Audio lessons and purchases
The app includes an audio version of the syllabus of each certification, with the text following along. Chapter 1 of each certification is free. The other chapters are unlocked by a one-time purchase for that certification. It is not a subscription and does not renew. The price is shown in the app and in the store before you buy, in your local currency.
- Payment is handled by Google Play or the Apple App Store, under their terms. We do not see or store your payment details. Refunds are decided by the store, under its own rules and the law that applies to you.
- A purchase belongs to your store account and unlocks the audio of that certification for as long as the audio is offered in the app. You can restore it on another phone with the same store account, using "Restore purchases" in the app.
- The audio is for listening inside the app, for your own study. You may not download, record, copy, resell or share it.
- The audio is generated speech based on the syllabus and may contain mistakes. It is currently in English, whatever the language of the app. It does not replace the official documents.
- If we stop offering the audio of a certification, we will keep it available to people who bought it for a reasonable time, or tell them how it will be handled, as required by law.
7. Availability and changes
We may change, suspend or stop the app or any feature, and update the content, at any time. We may update these terms; the current version is always on this page with its effective date, and continued use means you accept it.
8. Liability
To the extent allowed by law, the developer is not liable for any loss arising from the use of, or the inability to use, the app, including loss caused by mistakes in the material or by failing an exam. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under mandatory consumer law.
